How the SLA-12K Linear Actuator Works
The SLA-12K is easy to operate with a DC power supply. Reversing the polarity changes the movement direction.
Electrical Operation
When the brown power wire is connected to the positive pole of the DC power supply and the blue power wire is connected to the negative pole, the stroke rod extends outward. When the polarity is reversed, the stroke rod retracts inward.
Automatic Limit Protection
Two built-in limit switches stop the actuator automatically when the stroke rod reaches the fully extended or fully retracted position. The limit switch position can be adjusted during production according to customer requirements.
Stroke and Length Example
Model example based on SLA-12K linear actuator. Custom stroke and retraction length can be adjusted during production.
| Parameter | Value | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| Stroke | 300 mm | The moving distance of the actuator rod. |
| Retraction Length | 500 mm | Center distance between two mounting holes when fully retracted. |
| Extension Length | 800 mm | Center distance between two mounting holes when fully extended. |
Customization Note: The specified stroke or retraction length must be smaller than the standard actuator size. For example, if the standard stroke is 300 mm and the required stroke is 280 mm, the retraction length can be reduced from 500 mm to 480 mm.
If you need to keep the standard retraction length while changing the stroke, please tell us before production.

Selection Advice: For longer service life, we recommend using the actuator at about half of its maximum load instead of operating continuously under maximum load.
For strokes greater than 500 mm, it is usually better to choose an actuator with a longer stroke than the actual working stroke, especially under heavy load.
The maximum pulling force is slightly lower than the maximum pushing force.
Manual Override for Power Failure or Emergency Operation
The SLA-12K linear actuator is equipped with manual override, allowing the telescopic rod to be extended or retracted with hand tools when power is unavailable.
Remove Cover
Use a flat-blade screwdriver to remove the plastic waterproof cover.
Remove Screws
Use a 5 mm T-handle Allen wrench to remove the screws.
Turn Manually
Use a 6 mm T-handle Allen wrench. Turn counterclockwise to extend and clockwise to retract.
How to Choose the Right SLA-12K Linear Actuator
To recommend the correct model, please provide the following information before ordering.
1. Required Load
Tell us the actual load or equipment weight. For doors or covers, the force on the actuator may be 2 to 5 times the object weight depending on the mounting angle and installation position.
2. Stroke and Length
Confirm the required stroke, retracted length, extended length and mounting hole center distance.
3. Speed and Voltage
Choose the required movement speed and working voltage. 24V is commonly used for industrial and heavy-duty applications.
4. Control Method
Let us know if you need position feedback, Hall sensor, potentiometer, limit switch signal output or synchronous controller.
5. Working Environment
Confirm whether the actuator will be used outdoors, in dusty areas, wet environments, vehicles, ships or high-temperature conditions.
6. Mounting Connector
The default connector is an open hole connector. Slotted connector, internal thread connector and custom connector drawings are also supported.
